термины по теме: см. turbidite, turbidity currentТурбидиты (turbidite), отложения мутьевых потоков (turbidity current) на дне морей и океанов, представленные кластическими осадками разной размерности и степени окатанности. Периодические поступление осадков мутьевых потоков на морское дно нарушает обычный ход седиментации и создаёт в донных осадках серию ритмов; границы ритмов обычно отчётливые, мощность - различная (чаще несколько десятков см, реже от долей см до нескольких м). В нижней части каждого ритма наиболее грубозернистые осадки постепенно переходят кверху в более тонкозернистые, образуя так называемую градационную слоистость; завершается ритм более тонким слоем пелитового осадка (глинистого или карбонатного). Разная крутизна склонов, длительность транспортировки и степень нагрузки (или разжижения) мутьевого потока вызывают различия в строении турбидитов. В этом глубоководном осадке встречаются остатки мелководных и прибрежных организмов, перенесённые мутьевым потоком; иногда присутствует вулканогенный материал - тефра (тефротурбидиты); в ископаемом виде они известны под названием "туфовые турбидиты". Турбидиты имеют широкое распространение среди современных и древних отложений разного возраста (особенно среди осадков сейсмически активных областей)._ Мутьевые потоки (turbidity current), суспензионные потоки, турбидные течения, придонные течения в морях и океанах, характеризуемые повышенной плотностью. Возникают в результате землетрясения или др. причин на склоне морского дна, когда нарушается равновесие больших масс рыхлого донного осадка и образуются подводные оползни; оползающий материал взмучивается и в виде грязевого (мутьевого) потока спускается вниз по склону с большой скоростью на расстояние до сотен км; при этом М. п. не только переносят осадочный материал, но и эродируют морское дно, что может способствовать образованию подводных каньонов. В М. п. перемешаны частицы разного размера (от глинистых до грубозернистых). Насыщенность взвесью придаёт М. п. большую плотность, поэтому более крупные фрагменты переносятся во взвеси внутри более тонкозернистой "мути". Разгрузка происходит на дне морских и океанических котловин, в подводных каньонах и трогах. Когда М. п. теряет скорость и разжижается, из взвеси выпадают сначала более крупные и тяжёлые частицы, потом всё более мелкие, вплоть до илистой мути. Следующий М. п. приносит новую порцию осадка; образуется второй слой с постепенной сортировкой внутри, отделённый резкой границей от нижележащего. Слои прослеживаются на большие расстояния, причём мощность одного слоя обычно выдержанная, но мощности разных слоев колеблются от нескольких см до нескольких м. Многократное повторение слоев образует ритмически сортированную осадочную толщу. Такое формирование отложений было проверено экспериментально.
